Tank Davis Roasts Claressa Shields’ Lace-Up Catsuit, and She Swings Right Back
The undefeated boxing champ turned her Atlanta music launch into a red carpet moment in a cut-out black bodysuit and red thigh-highs. Gervonta Davis had notes. She had a comeback.
Gloves off, mic on, and apparently fashion critics out in force. Boxing champ Claressa Shields threw a party for her new single and ended up in a very public outfit feud with fellow fighter Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
Shields hosted her “Gloves Off, Mic On” listening experience in Atlanta on November 2 to launch her hip hop track “Party”, at the Rolling Out headquarters, Terez Owens reports. More than 500 guests turned up, including her boyfriend Papoose, who joined her onstage.
The catsuit that started it all
On the red carpet, the undefeated champ went bold: a fitted black bodysuit with lace-up cut-outs running all the way down her exposed back, paired with red thigh-high boots. She even turned around to give photographers the full view, HotNewHipHop reports.
Tank was not a fan. He posted a clip of her on the carpet to his Instagram story, tagged her and wrote: “@claressashields you look a hot a** mess..” The story spread fast on X, with one boxing account’s post alone pulling more than 190,000 views.
She swung back
Shields was never going to take that one on the chin. Sharing his remark on X, she fired back: “Keep streaming Party 🤣🗣️🤩,” and pointed followers to her new single on Apple Music. She then followed up with a far more personal jab at Davis.
At the party itself, a clip posted by Evener Entertainment showed her addressing anyone who had a problem with her outfit, with the caption saying she told critics to “kiss her a**.”
The replies were split right down the middle: some fans sided with Tank, others said Shields was just doing what Shields does. Either way, the outfit got more airtime than most album launches ever dream of.

The event also previewed her forthcoming album, What Did You Expect, with nine tracks played for guests, according to HotNewHipHop. Shields thanked Rolling Out and everyone who came, and promised more music next week.
Scoop’s verdict? A lace-up catsuit, red thigh-highs and a free promo campaign from her loudest critic. Tank threw the jab; Claressa got the streams. Round one to the champ.
