Britney Spears has fans worried all over again. Over the weekend the pop icon posted a run of cryptic, emotional Instagram uploads — including one caption, since deleted, in which she admitted she is still “bitter” about her 13-year conservatorship — and plenty of followers are wondering if she’s really okay.

It started late on Saturday night, US time, when Britney shared what the Daily Mail called a “bizarre” post reflecting on her 2001 visit to Australia. Alongside the clip she wrote: “Australia, the land down under… I met a lady who made me nervous and made me a sandwich… And I learned how to birth us!!!” The Daily Mail said she appeared to be joining a viral trend built around the old Men at Work hit, adding her own strange twist that seemed to suggest she’d given birth to a koala — or that it had given birth to her. The outlet said the post was part of her “habit of posting unusual material on Instagram”.

Then on Sunday, October 11, things got heavier. According to both the Daily Mail and Page Six, Britney posted one of her trademark at-home videos, strutting through her house in black lace lingerie and leather boots, with a long caption that has since disappeared from her page. Page Six reported it read the caption before it was deleted.

In it, Britney described herself as “a sweet, innocent girl who used to be famous and believed everything she was told”, and took aim at her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears. “Yes, I’m bitter, all the hours, seconds, time, and secretly, subconsciously knowing my capabilities as a woman,” she wrote, per both outlets.

She said she was “never even able to fly somewhere just to meet a friend” because she worked seven days a week for 15 years, and added: “And just five years ago, I was able to hold my first one-dollar bill… And people sit back and honestly say I’m the crazy one.”

The most heart-tugging lines, though, were about being on her own. The Daily Mail reported she wrote that she has “traveled the past six years alone, besides one trip with a friend”, and that with so much alone time she “started to wonder, is that healthy”. But she finished on a defiant note: “Then I woke up this morning and said, I’m gonna stop questioning myself and let my own legs and spirit be my guide.”

The Daily Mail said Britney also shared two more posts on Sunday. One was a photo of a bearded man captioned: “Santa Claus has become my best friend… I speak to him in heaven almost everyday… He said I was right about needing more clothes!!” The other was a black-and-white image of a woman in heels stepping on a man’s hand, captioned: “I’m extremely fragile… so so sorry!!!”

A tough year in the headlines

The posts land after a rocky 2026 for the singer. Page Six reported Britney was arrested on March 4 for a DUI, and that in May her attorney pleaded guilty on her behalf to a lesser “wet reckless” charge. She was given a year of informal probation and ordered to complete a three-month alcohol education program, according to the outlet.

In July, photos of Britney standing up through the sunroof of a moving SUV on LA’s 101 Freeway sparked another round of concern, with Us Weekly noting the images raised eyebrows about her wellbeing. Britney brushed it off on Instagram at the time, writing: “What people see is two seconds of insanity… Nothing is what it seems.” A source told the Daily Mail back then that she “is having a fun summer and is happy, she is in a good place”.

The sweeter side

It hasn’t all been worrying. Just last week, TMZ reported Britney was spotted at Dollywood in Tennessee on Wednesday, October 7, with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Witnesses told TMZ the family appeared to be enjoying a fun vacation together, and Britney posted her own clips from the theme park, including one of her on a ride. The Daily Mail also noted she recently shared a rare photo with her two boys.

Britney was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship in February 2008 and it ended in November 2021. She has since been estranged from her parents and, in a 2021 court hearing, famously called the arrangement “abusive”, Page Six recalled.

At the time of writing, Britney’s team had not publicly commented on the weekend’s posts, and the singer herself has not said anything further beyond what she wrote in her captions.

Scoop’s take? Whatever you make of her Instagram, Britney has spent years telling the world exactly how much the conservatorship took from her — and this weekend she said it again, in her own words. Fans just want to know she’s okay. We’re sending her love.
