Claudia Schiffer, 56, Goes Topless in Just Gold Chains for Chloé’s Steamy New Campaign
The supermodel bared all but the essentials for Chloé’s ‘sensual’ festive shoot, covering up with flowing blonde locks, chunky gold chains and a pair of jeans.
Some supermodels quietly slip into their fifties. Claudia Schiffer has decided to take her top off instead.
The 56-year-old German bombshell is the star of Chloé’s brand-new festive campaign, and the hero shot is a showstopper: Claudia, topless, covering her modesty with nothing more than her famous flowing blonde hair and a curtain of chunky gold chains, with a pair of blue jeans slung low on her hips.
She is lounging back on the floor, staring straight down the lens with that trademark sultry look, and we are not ashamed to admit we checked twice to make sure it wasn’t 1992 again.
Shot by David Sims
The campaign was captured by star photographer David Sims, and the rest of the images keep the heat turned up. In one, Claudia kicks back on a chaise lounge in a champagne satin slip dress that clings in all the right places. In another she smoulders in a ruffled white number, then switches to sharp business chic in a black blazer.
There is also an embellished black and silver co-ord with a matching jacket, and a final frame where she is practically swallowed by billowing salmon pink fabric. Dramatic? Yes. Too much? Never.
‘Sensual and a little mysterious’
Chloé’s creative director Chemena Kamali says that was exactly the brief. “I wanted to explore a more nocturnal expression of the Chloé woman, with a cinematic aura that feels spontaneous, sensual and a little mysterious,” she said, adding that Claudia brings “a sense of intimacy to the campaign.”
Intimacy is one word for it. Gold chains instead of a bra is another.
According to the Daily Mail, the shoot reunites Claudia with the French fashion house 34 years after she first walked its runway. She is a well-known ‘friend of the house’, and only last month she sat front row at Chloé’s Paris Fashion Week show next to Cynthia Erivo and Claire Danes, wearing a plunging white blazer over a sheer white lace bodysuit.
Still the girl from Love Actually
For a whole generation, Claudia will forever be Carol, the dream woman who turns up at the end of Love Actually. She has also popped up in Zoolander as herself. These days she says family comes first with husband Matthew Vaughn and their three kids, but clearly she can still pull out the big guns when the right campaign comes calling.
The collection lands in stores from early November, just in time for party season.
Scoop’s verdict? Fifty-six, topless and dripping in gold. Claudia Schiffer didn’t just show up for Chloé’s Christmas campaign, she unwrapped it.
